Produced In Boston

The Becton Fund

Few individuals have had a greater impact on public broadcasting—locally, nationally, and internationally—than Henry Becton, Jr. During a career spanning 38 years, 24 of them as president, Henry has guided WGBH to national prominence as a production powerhouse, technological innovator, and media access pioneer. Under his leadership, WGBH has been honored with every major broadcasting award.

Henry began his career at WGBH in 1970 as a production trainee and rose to become public broadcasting's senior statesman. In October 2007, Jon Abbott succeeded him as president and Henry stepped into the role of vice chair of WGBH's Board of Trustees and senior editorial advisor.

The respect for Henry Becton within public broadcasting and New England's business, cultural, and philanthropic communities led to a generous gift establishing this endowed fund. The Becton Fund will award annual fellowships to promising young producers who will carry on the legacy of excellence that is Henry's hallmark.

Let us help you sustain public media and honor a true visionary with your gift to The Becton Fund.
